A Glocky Dance
A Glocky Dance is based on “Mattachins” (sometimes known as “Sword Dance”) and is one of the dance tunes found in Thoinot Arbeau's Orchésographie. Most famously, Peter Warlock (1894-1930) used it for the finale of “Capriol” and it is his version that provided the inspiration for A Glocky Dance.
It is scored one-octave diatonic glockenspiels in three parts for those of differing skill levels.
- carries the tunes and is designed to be repetitive, so once learned it can be used again.
- is an inner harmony/counter melody line and is designed for those players who can handle something more than the tune
- is for those students who can only handle a few, easy, slow changing notes.
